Able RAWer, A Freeware Gem
Barbara December 6th, 2006
Able RAWer is a great little program for digital photographers on the go. Pop this tiny program on your thumbdrive and anywhere you can find an open USB port you can set up your digital darkroom and get to work on your RAW files.
Able RAWer is not as full featured as Adobe Camera RAW or Photoshop of course, but at only 3 MB this freeware gem it is a whole lot easier to carry around.
With Able RAWer you can quickly browse your images, make simple color, exposure, white balance and gamma corrections. You can also sharpen, rotate and crop images, and apply special effects filters such as embossing. When you’ve finished making changes you can save out a copy of your adjusted image to your choice of seventeen different file formats.
Able RAWer works with the following common RAW image formats: raw, crw, cr2, nef, pef, raf, x3f, bay, orf, srf, mrw, dcr, and will work on Windows versions from Windows 95 to XP. Version 1.2 of Able RAWer is available for download from the developer’s web site and from share ware and feeware donwload site.
